About Us

Our Mission

Antimicrobial Stewardship Associates is a consulting firm designed to provide hospitals with the staffing and expertise required to meet the latest antimicrobial stewardship requirements mandated by accrediting agencies. Our team includes a physician, a pharmacist, and a nurse with a combined total of over 35 years of experience in antibiogram analysis, formulary design, and antimicrobial stewardship program development. Physician and Co-Founder

Mark Middlebrooks MD

Dr. Mark Middlebrooks graduated with his bachelor's degree from Samford University. He completed medical school, his residency in Internal Medicine, and then his fellowship in Infectious Diseases at UAB. He is a loyal friend and family-man, and learned Italian in his 40's, ultimately becoming fluent. He has been in private practice in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases since 1992.

Pharmacist and Co-Founder

Liz Parker PharmD

Liz Parker is a critical care and infectious disease clinical pharmacist at UAB St. Vincent's East. She attended Samford University where she attained her Bachelor's of Science in Pharmaceutical Science and Doctor of Pharmacy. She completed her PGY1 residency at Ascension Sacred Heart in Pensacola, Florida. A French-speaker and loving mother, Liz prioritizes personal-development in both her work and home life. She has served as Antimicrobial Stewardship lead at UAB St. Vincent's East for 3 years.

Nursing Manager

Kyle Seckinger RN, BSN

Kyle is a U.S. Army veteran and a doting father-of-two with a BSN from Samford University. Unfortunately, Kyle's military career was cut short by a back injury sustained during an airborne operation, leading to his medical retirement as a Specialist (E-4) in 2015. He is currently continuing his education to earn his MSN and Nurse Practitioner certification at Auburn University.
